Family friends were visiting in Florida. The home they stayed in has a dock in the back yard and the water is home to many sea creatures, including manatees. Manatees are gentle and playful; but shy when it comes to humans. On day, while fishing, "Pap" whistled. Surprisingly, a couple of young manatees swam over and hung out under the dock. Later on, Pap showed me a video of his hand petting the back of a manatee. “Wow,” I exclaimed, “I’ve always wanted to touch one!” Pap explained that the manatee fell asleep under the dock and he was able to touch its wet and slimy back.

Then God said, "Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens." Genesis 1:20

Heavenly Father, what were You thinking when you made the manatee? They are shy giants and yet Pap, I mean "the manatee whisperer:)” was able to pet one. Daily I marvel at Your imagination. What a gorgeous planet You’ve created for us to enjoy!
