The Bible says that “if you confesses with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him for the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
After this occurs, the Bible says, Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away, behold all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
God, through the Holy Spirit, begins a process in the true believer’s life that changes their behavior and makes them more like Christ.
Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
When a person trusts in Christ for salvation, he spiritually participates with the Lord in His crucifixion and His victory over sin and death. The believer’s old self is dead; having been crucified with Christ. (John MacArthur) A true believer will eventually show the fruit of the salvation that occurred in his life. It is a process that takes time.
Jerry Wilson writes, “To be a believer means you do the right thing regardless. And when you fail to do the right thing - it will happen, guaranteed - you get up and keep going. Every single time. No matter how scared or hurt or empty or angry you may be. You keep going, trusting that God will see you through. And He will.”
Father God, words can’t express fully how grateful I am that You know me and I know You. I look back and see what you have done in my life and know that you aren’t finished yet. Please continue to guide and direct my path and help me to be obedient to You and Your Word. Amen.
