Travel has been part of my life since I was a young child. My folks were missionaries in Brasil, and after we moved back to Punxsutawney in 1980, my family and I continued traveling often. My current work requires travel albeit very limited since early 2020. I’ve been fortunate to visit many places and experience many different cultures. Curiously, I’m often approached and told I look familiar from people I’ve never met or seen before. At first this was puzzling, but then, I thought I must have a doppelganger. Now, it’s become a good way to say hello and find out more about the person who asks. Just like Jesus did during his ministry on earth.
Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave His charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 MSG
Father God, we who put out trust and faith in Jesus Christ carry You with us wherever we go. What a concept! I pray Your Light continues to shine in and through us. I pray that we continue to be salt to all who cross our path. May we flavor the world in such a way that others can see and taste how GOOD You are. You’ve entrusted us with your Power. We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. (2 Corinthians 4:7 ESV) Oh, that many more will find and put their trust in Your beautiful Son. Amen.
