Where I Put my trust

I wept when I found out about the assault on the Capitol Building of the United States. It’s hard to grasp the direction things are going in. The propaganda of hate, separation, and fear is palpable. I’ve been praying fervently for our nation and the world at large. Big, life changing events have begun and we need to be prepared.

So it was with great joy that I read the following devotion while praying corporately with Bayside Community Church. I was so excited to be in their “neck of the woods” to participate for a week.

Day 11: Against the backdrop of a tumultuous political season and a global pandemic, how are we to respond as Christ followers? Whether or not “your person” is in office, we all have a responsibility to both participate in and pray for our nation. What we need is an outbreak of FAITH, not fear; of PEACE, not panic; and TRUST, not trembling. The greatest gift we can offer our hurting nation right now is an invitation to a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.” Bayside Devotional Jan/Feb/Mar 2021

Father God, you know exactly how to encourage my heart and mind! On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. You are the Living Stone, the Source of life. The workmen took one look at it and threw it out; but You set it in the place of honor. Look! You set a stone in Zion, a cornerstone in the place of honor. Whoever trusts in this Stone as a Foundation will never have cause to regret it. 1 Peter 2:4-6 paraphrased
