Lisa's Jars of Joy

My Birthday party

My daughter’s text read, “The hot mess express is coming to town.”I laughed out loud, thinking about Jetts and her family flying down south to take a vacation geographically closer to the equator.I couldn’t wait to spend some time making memories with the H.M.E.

The family finally flew in a couple of days later than planned because of a good old fashioned northeast winter storm. As I waited to greet them at baggage claim, I heard a little voice yell, “Gigi, Gigi!”Shortly after, a forty something pound little girl threw herself into my arms and I hugged her close. Her 18 month old sister was right behind her, raising her arms and trying her best to get out of the stroller. The girls’ parents wore tired smiles as they rounded up their luggage and headed towards the car.

The weather was unseasonably cold, but with a heated pool, an aquarium to visit, a movie theater, games, a Marshalls close by, and fresh seafood; the time flew by.One evening after eating ice cream, my daughter mentioned that my birthday was coming up in a couple of days. Emmie piped up saying, “Gigi, can I come to your birthday party?”I replied, “Honey, you are my birthday party!”

Father God, You knit me in my mother’s womb. You were there before I was born and You are continually beside me as the years fly by.You are my Shield and Rock, my Fortress and Defender.I know with great confidence that You are deeply concerned about me and You work every little detail of my life out for good. This promise is true for all who love You and are called according to Your purposes. You are the Lover of my soul.Your Love carries me always and I sing loudly with joy and gladness!Your mercies are new every morning!Great is Your faithfulness!

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!Blessed is the person who takes refuge in Him!Psalm 34:8
