“Challenging, scary, wicked tough season.” These are some of the words I hear describing 2020 and early 2021. Separation, confusion, hatred, and deception are rampant. People are fighting disease, joblessness, and personal demons. How in the world can one find peace and joy in the midst of this time?
There is One Who is trustworthy. He is not a box to be checked or a religion to follow. He is not controlled or manipulated, nor does He control or manipulate. He is often not what people say or think He is. He is so much bigger than that!
He revealed a part of Himself to the world through His Son. If you study His life, you see He lived on this planet going about His Father’s business. He was humble and strong and used His power to set captives free from all kinds of bondage. He treated men and women of all races equally. He offers a way into His Kingdom for anyone wanting to follow His lead. He didn’t come to start a new religion, but a rather Kingdom that never dies. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is the only hope for this life and the life to come.
Jesus summed it all up when He cried out, “Whoever believes in Me, believes not just in Me but in the One Who sent Me. I am the Light that has come into the world so that all who believe in Me won’t have to stay any longer in the dark....I didn’t come to reject the world; I came to save the world. (John 12:44-46,48 MSG)
Heavenly Father, You brought Heaven to earth through Your Son. It’s a done deal! Even though we are bound by gravity and time and human bodies, we can experience glimpses of the Kingdom of heaven daily on this broken planet because of You. “God’s Spirit is on Me; He’s chosen Me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, To set the burdened and battered free, to announce, ‘This is God’s year to act!’” -- Jesus (Luke 4:18-19 MSG)
