Thanksgiving is finally here. 2020 is not a year we will easily forget. The world’s turmoil over the Covid pandemic has taken many people to their limits. Anxiety and worry is palpable and fear has caused many to respond poorly.
After a recent night of tossing and turning and praying, Colossians 2:6 popped into my head. The Holy Spirit prompted me to look up this verse:
And now just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust Him, too, for each day’s problems; live in vital union with Him. Let your roots grow down into Him and draw up nourishment from Him. See that you go on growing in the Lord, and become strong and vigorous in the Truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all He has done. Verses 6-8 Life Application Bible
I don’t have the answers to all that’s happening, but I know the One Who does.
He is able to carry the burdens we face on a daily basis. He’s waiting to help. Let Jesus be what consumes your thoughts and calms your heart.
Lauren Daigle sings in Look Up Child:
Where are You now... When darkness seems to win?
Where are You now... When the world is crumbling?
Oh I, I hear You say...
Look up child
You're not threatened by the war... You're not shaken by the storm
I know You're in control... Even in our suffering
Even when it can't be seen... I know You're in control
Look up child
Where are You now (where are You?)... When all I feel is doubt?
Oh, where are You now... When I can't figure it out?
Oh I, I hear You say... I hear You say Look up child
Heavenly Father, I’m looking up and casting all my cares on You. The problems don’t automatically go away, but the simple, willful act of giving thanks changes my entire perspective. You’ve proven Your faithfulness over and over again. May this pandemic be over soon. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
