What do you get when you pack a vehicle with a Mommy and a GiGi, a three-year-old pre-schooler and an eight-week-old infant, a black labrador retriever, three suitcases, two diaper bags, and enough snacks for an eight hour road trip? Beautiful chaos!
As we drove to our family home in Pennsylvania, I was struck with the heart knowledge that these road trips and regular visits are already becoming priceless memories. By the grace of God, the home we stay in and enjoy was built on a foundation of love. Love between a man and a woman and the love of their Creator and Savior.
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. 1 Corinthians 3:10-13 NIV
Lord Jesus, You are my family’s secure foundation. There have been people and circumstances that attempted to destroy what You are building, but Your love and protection always prevails. Thank You for the earthly home our family enjoys. But more important, thank You for the Home that is ours for eternity. This world and all that is in it will pass away, but You stand forever. I can’t wait to see what You’ve prepared for those who put their faith and trust in Christ Jesus. Amen.
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
