A Curious Friendship

A curious series of extraordinary events led me to a friendship I wasn’t expecting. Merriam Webster.com defines curious as “strange, unusual, unexpected.” What began as a conversation to discuss a mutual experience, led to discovering other things we had in common; especially our love of Jesus. We decided to pray over the phone weekly, on behalf of our families, friends, and enemies.

Recently, while reflecting on the circumstances that brought us together, we marveled at how we’ve grown tremendously in our journey. Our shared experience ultimately brought us closer to the heart of the God we both serve. A sweet friendship has developed and it’s refreshing to the soul. Proverbs 27:9 We continue to encourage one another and build each other up. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

This particular friendship, forged in fire, continues growing in ways that touch the core being. As the Spirit of Truth continually transforms us from the inside out, we grow wiser, stronger, braver, and whole. Maya Angelou wrote, “In a friendship, you get to know the spirit of another person; and your values coincide.” It’s a powerful force indeed.

Heavenly Father, in Your Kingdom, nothing is ever wasted. Thank You for unexpected friendships. Thank You for continued wisdom, discernment, and understanding as we navigate life with all its twists and turns. It’s a glorious adventure when we submit to Your lead and follow the Spirit of Truth. You never know what’s just around the next corner! Amen.

As steel is used to sharpen steel, so one friend sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17
