A Small Splinter

My granddaughter and I explored a couple of remote cabins on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We climbed ladders to sleeping lofts, checked out the moon carved door of an outhouse and pretended to build a fire and roast marshmallows in the woods.

While walking back to the farmhouse, Emmie showed me a splinter in her thumb. Within 60 seconds, she stopped walking and started sobbing because “mommy and daddy will have to take the splinter out and it will hurt really bad.” Kneeling beside her, I said, “Honey, you’re getting worked up about something that someday soon, you’ll be doing yourself. You’re getting into your head, and I know you’re scared, but it’s going to be okay.” I hugged her tight, giving her the time and space to express her fears. And then, we took the next step towards the rest of the day.

Later that evening, the Holy Spirit whispered to my heart. “Lisa, you’re worried about many things. You’re questioning what the rest of the year looks like for your business and how the economy is going to survive this pandemic. Stop! Get out of your head. Look to Me. Your worries are but a small splinter and I will take care of you and help you through it. Watch Me work. Walk by faith, not by sight.”

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 AMP

Lord Jesus, as I continue to seek comfort and wisdom from Your Word during this difficult season, I know You are providing mercy, grace, and discernment every step of the way. What looks like a huge problem to my human mind is but a small thing to You. Help me to keep my eyes focused on You instead of these uncertain times. Amen.

This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it! Psalm 118:24 NLT

Thank you TM:)
