Stay Home

A majority of Americans have been asked to stay home, except for necessities; during the current coronavirus pandemic. As I shopped for groceries yesterday, most people’s eyes were filled with anger and fear reflecting the fight or flight syndrome common to trauma.

Everyone tried their best to maintain the recommended 6 foot personal distance and many wore masks and gloves. The clerks at the checkout had 3x3 panels of plexiglass in place for protection. It felt and sounded like a silent war zone.

After placing my groceries in the backseat, my eyes filled with tears as I struggled to put my seatbelt on. In a matter of weeks, life has changed drastically. It’s shocking and surreal.

When faced with circumstances out of my control, I look up to where constant help is available.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

God is not surprised by what is going on. (Psalm 147:5) This pandemic doesn’t change His love for mankind. (Psalm 63:3)

There is suffering and tragedy on this earth, and yet, there is hope. (John 16:33) God has great love and compassion for mankind.

(2 Corinthians 1:3) He sent His Only Son, Jesus Christ; to set us free. (John 3:16-17) He has a plan. (Ephesians 1:7-10) He tells us to ask, seek and knock. And He will open the door.

For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:8

Heavenly Father, I hate this virus. I hate what it’s doing to the world. And yet, I am certain You are in control. That You will bring beauty and new life out of the current firestorm and the ashes that will follow. Your Character is one of Redemption, and You will redeem even this situation. I trust You. I believe You can do anything. And I am waiting for it. Amen.
