On July 4, 2019, a small, open two seater plane with an engine that looked like it belonged on a lawn mower pulled me and a hang glider pilot up into the bright morning sky.
The cord that attached us to the plane looked like skinny fishing wire. When we reached 2000 feet, the hang glider pilot wiggled the cord indicating it was time to release. I didn’t scream, just hung on as tight as I could. Slowly, while circling back down to earth, I drank in the gorgeous scenery. I could see my grown children, granddaughter and granddog watching and waving on the ground below.
Hang gliding has been on my bucket list for a long time and it was wonderful to be able to finally do it. Was I fearful? Yes, a little. But, I refuse to live another day of my life in fear and regret.
Recent life experiences have taught me that a person can be in great danger in their own home behind closed doors. As a result of this truth, my attitude towards life has undergone a huge shift. For example, I used to be afraid of heights, but not anymore. My perception of danger has drastically changed. And I am grateful.
God rescued and freed me when man could not. He set me free..free indeed! And I will never be the same.
Heavenly Father, I get one life to live here on earth. You warned us that “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 Thank You for opening the eyes of my heart to Your Power and Love. Perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18 Thank You for what Your Son did to set mankind free. I was in an impossible situation, BUT GOD...You set me free!
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
