A Father's Love

My granddaughter was hanging out at my Farmhouse because her daddy was fixing the boiler. We had chicken and potatoes for dinner; then it was bath time in the farm sink. We giggled and played in the water, then quickly got ‘baby girl’ into her cozy, zip-up footie pajamas. My daughter then handed my son-in-law a white hairbrush and Emmie stood perfectly still as he tenderly and gently brushed the tangles out of her curly, wet hair. Since she doesn’t sit still much; this amazed me. The look in her eyes was pure contentment and trust. It melted my heart.

This scene reminded me of when my daughter was a little girl. She also had thick, curly, and often tangled hair. Her daddy would brush it out because I didn’t have the patience to do it all the time. Joe was as gentle and tender as my son in law. What a beautiful picture of a father’s love!

Whether or not your earthly dad loved you like this, there is one thing I know for sure. Your heavenly Father loves you with all of His Heart! He made you in His image. (Genesis 1:27) You are the apple of His eye (Zechariah 2:8) And, by the way, He knows the exact number of hairs on your head! (Luke 12:7)

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me of a father’s love for his daughter. Thank You for loving me fiercely and also with tender loving care. In this ever changing and often cruel world, please help those who didn’t have a loving earthly daddy to trust in Your Love and the future You have for them. (Psalm 27:10) During this season, may we trust You; the Lover of our Soul. (Psalm 18)

**Beloved Reader, please look up Psalm 18 in the Message version. It is long, but well worth your time. Trust His promises to you**
