Thanks-Giving

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love to roast the turkey and make a meal to share with others. This year is different because I’m spending it with my son in San Diego. I’ve rented a tiny apartment with a full kitchen and am looking forward to meeting my son’s friends.

This past year has not turned out like I expected or wanted it to. And yet, I am thankful! My cup overflows with many good things the Lord has given.

Always be joyful. Always keep on praying.

No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (Living Bible)

A spirit of thankfulness does not come easily or naturally; especially when life doesn’t turn out like we’d planned. But, ‘thanks-giving’ is purposefully cultivated deep in the heart and mind and helps us appreciate where we are today. God helps us trust Him in every life chapter.

Father God, thank You for the Thanksgiving holiday. I love what it stands for and wholeheartedly participate. Thank you for the new memories You are creating in my life. You show me daily how You are in control and I can trust You implicitly! Amen.

On your feet now—applaud God! Bring a gift of laughter, sing yourselves into his presence. Know this: God is God, and God, God. He made us; we didn’t make him. We’re his people, his well-tended sheep. Enter with the password: “Thank you!” Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him. Psalm 100:1-4 (MSG)
