I know my friends and they know me. They are confident enough to come to the front door of my house. Sometimes, people who are not friends try to find out information through the “back door.” These people love to gossip and spread rumors; making themselves feel better in the process. Death and life are in the power of the tongue; And those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21
I don’t like it when people try to sneak in through the back door. I’d much rather people knock on the front door and announce their intentions.
Jesus also talks about knocking and coming in through the front door of our hearts. He doesn’t sneak around the back. And He doesn’t force His way in. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20
Heavenly Father, You are transparent and forthright. You don’t gossip or try to tear us down. You are for us, not against us. (Romans 8:31) You’ve given us the ultimate Gift through Your Son, Jesus. Oh, that the Holy Spirit would speak to the hearts of those who read this devotion; that they would open their front door, and let You in! Amen.
