Don't Look Back

My train seat on ScotRail from Aberdeen to Edinburgh was facing backwards. I wondered if I’d get “carsick” from the motion. As we waited to depart, my devotion for that day was “Don’t Look Back.”

Lisa Singh writes, “When I look back at my life, I am so thankful that God brought me out of many situations that would have resulted in my destruction had I stayed there. I grew up in an abusive home, and it seemed easier to deal with the abuse than to open up to someone for help. Today I am writing about moving from the past and looking forward to the future because the life that God has for His children is always better than what we will leave behind.”

As the train pulled out of the station, I whispered a prayer,

Father God, of all the devotions... this is the one You made sure I read this morning; seated backwards no less! You are a God of purpose and provision and there are no coincidences in a believer’s life. Help me not to look back with longing on any situation that was dangerous physically, mentally and emotionally. Amen.

He delivers me from my enemies. You also lift me up above those who rise against me; You have delivered me from the violent man. Therefore I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the Gentiles, And sing praises to Your name. 2 Samuel 2:49-51
