Where Do I Begin?

New believers in Christ often ask where they should begin reading the Bible. A good place to start is the gospel of John. Ask God to reveal His Word to you through the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7

Father God, by Your grace, I asked You to be Lord of my life; to accept Your Son’s sacrifice for my sin. When I made that commitment, You began the process of changing me from the inside out. You reveal Yourself to me daily through Your Word, Your Spirit and life’s circumstances. Thank you for never leaving my side. Amen.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

John 1: 1-8
