Recently, I surprised our daughter-in-law with a birthday trip to New York City. It was her first time in the ‘big city’ and our hotel room in Queensboro overlooked the Manhattan skyline. While Jamie was speaking on the phone with her Grandpa Beckhusen, he excitedly told her he’d been born and raised there. Talk about coincidence! He said, “Jamie, do you see why Grandpa loves all kind of people? Because in Queensboro, race and color don’t matter. We are all the same!”
1 Samuel 16:7 says, “But the Lord.....does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Heavenly Father, You created mankind in Your image (Genesis 1:27). Thank You that Your love for us is not based on our race or color. You look on the inside, not the outside. Your Word says that ALL LIVES MATTER to You (John 3:16). Amen.
