Put Your Seat-belt On

I often tell myself to “put my seat-belt on,” when this life’s road gets rough. At the age of 4, I committed to follow Jesus Christ with all of my heart and soul and mind. Now, as a grown woman, I know this life is full of twists and turns and unexpected events, but God promises He is enough, no matter what!!

Jesus taught in Luke 14:27-30:

Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’

Jesus set the cost of discipleship as high as possible and encouraged the people to do a careful inventory before declaring their willingness to follow Him. (MacArthur p. 2212)

God also made sure His followers have a Manual (Bible) that has all the answers we need. Our responsibility is to read it, study it and apply it.

Father God, so many times I want to stick my head in the sand. But, You are continually teaching me that You are the answer to every situation and that You are enough. Thank You for Your faithfulness and for helping me to keep my seat-belt on and follow You without reservation. I’m all in, Lord. Amen.

So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:33
