For years, I tried so hard to “be good” and do everything the “right” way so I could please God. We follow man made rules and regulations (religion) because it makes us feel better about our sinfulness. And yet, few of us open the Bible, (God’s love letter to mankind) to see what He desires.

In Deuteronomy 10:12, God says, “And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD's commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good? (NIV)

God Himself gave mankind rules and boundaries to live by, so that we may please Him and give glory to His name. He desires RELATIONSHIP with mankind.

He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be the scapegoat for our sins. He showed us The Way to relationship with God. He also made sure that we have His Word as a map to guide and direct our lives. (I’ve personally found that the more I read His Word and spend time studying it, I fall deeper in love with Him Who loves me!)

“Father God, my desire is to follow you with all my heart and soul and mind. Help me not to turn to the left or the right, but to stay on course. May You get the glory for what You have done, are doing and will do in my life and the lives of those I love. Amen.”

Do not swerve to the right or to the left, but keep your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:27 NIV
