Before my daughter’s wedding, she and I had a “mother-daughter day” filled with activities we both love. Jetts and I were able to relax, laugh and enjoy each other’s company before her big day.
During our time together, she shared the following truth with me, and with her permission, I’m sharing with my readers.
John 16:33 quotes Jesus saying, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
She said, “Mom, no matter what happens to us, God promises His peace. He also tells us we will have problems, but to cheer up, because He’s got it covered.” Then, she said, “the part of the verse that says, ‘you will have tribulation,’ just insert whatever trial you are (or have) faced. For example, your dad will die at a young age, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world. Or someone you love is battling cancer, but be of good cheer, because God has it covered. He has a plan and a purpose for our life and we need to trust Him through every season.”
Father God, thank You for revealing this truth. I am amazed and in awe of You and Your Word. Our journey on this earth can be full of trials and tribulations, but You also promise that You are faithful and have given us Your strength and peace. All You ask is that we trust You to help us through whatever life throws our way. Thank You for having our back! Amen.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
