Defeating Giants

When I was younger, I used to put my ‘head in the sand’ when there was a problem and pretend everything was okay. Over the years, however, I’ve learned that this behavior does not please God and He has a habit of allowing the problem to intensify until I’m forced to deal with the situation head on; up out of the sand!

1 Samuel 17:48 writes; “As Goliath approached, David ran toward him..” David knew that the battle belonged to the Lord and that He would take care of Goliath (the problem). David knew that if he didn’t face it head on, Goliath would come right up to his doorstep and overtake him.

I’ve learned that you don’t run from giants. You don’t negotiate with them. You attack them. Whatever your problem or giant may be, force it into the light of day.

Stop rationalizing it.

Stop excusing it.

Realize you need God’s help to defeat it.

Ask Him and He will provide everything you need.

Father God, thank You for helping me face problems head on. You and Your Word are all I need and when I make You bigger than any problem; ask for Your guidance and place everything squarely in Your (very capable) Hands, I’m amazed how You give me peace, strength, and abundant hope. You are amazing and wonderful!! Amen.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7
