“All Things Work Together for Good”
My grandmother, Margaret, had a favorite verse. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
There have been many, many times that circumstances did not make sense when they occurred. But now, looking back, I can see that those circumstances worked out much better than I could have ever hoped for or imagined. “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us..” Ephesians 3:20
My first husband’s death at the age of 46 broke my heart. God knew this was coming and prepared Joe and I for his death. (His story will be written in a book!)
Then, God prepared me for my second husband, Dave. Dave had been married once before and the divorce was not amicable. But, through those circumstances, he gave his life to Christ (as a result of the ministry taught at our local church) and God changed him from the inside out. God prepared Dave for me and me for Dave. ALL things have worked together for good; according to God’s purposes, and I am very, very grateful.
“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time He will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7
Father God, thank you for always having Your children’s backs. You really are Who You say You are. I don’t always understand, but I trust You anyways. Thank you for loving me like You do and being in control...even when it doesn’t feel like it at the time. Amen.
